A Little Inconvenience..The Best
Picked Truett up from school and he immediately started crying asking to go to the farm. I had a meeting starting in 30 minutes, I needed to stop by and give a sweet friend a hug on their retirement day, and I did NOT want to take the time to get him ready and to the farm.
I then remembered a conversation that I had with Ben, literally the day before…it went a little something like this…
“I want to make getting the kids to the farm a priority again. I want to get them involved more on the day to day things, not just the big things like harvest/planting etc. I know it’s sometimes hard and inconvenient, but I think it is so important.”
So…we quickly hugged, ran home and changed, dropped little man off, all while listening in on my call on the way to and from the farm.
Man, was that decision to get a little inconvenienced was so worth it. Truett had the absolute best day. The guys were sorting cattle to sell and so when Truett got there, they were moving the cattle that we are keeping back to wheat pasture, aka horseback! Truett did NOT want to ride with dad, so he got his own horse. This was his first solo ride and Ben said he didn’t stop talking the whole time and just had the biggest time with Dad and Grandad.
These are the core memories we want for them. So glad I “inconvenienced” myself that day.
